In Surah Al-Muddaththir (74:30), the Quran declares:
"Over it are nineteen [angels]."
The number 19 holds a special place in the numerical structure of the Quran. Researcher Rashad Khalifa discovered in the 1970s that many elements of the Quran are organized around the number 19:
- The basmala (opening formula) contains 19 letters
- The word "Allah" appears 2698 times (19 × 142)
- The word "Rahman" (the Merciful) appears 57 times (19 × 3)
- The word "Rahim" (the Most Merciful) appears 114 times (19 × 6)
