The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "Use the black seed, for it is a remedy for all diseases except death." (Narrated by Al-Bukhari, no. 5688, and Muslim, no. 2215).

Black seed, scientifically known as Nigella sativa, has been used for millennia in traditional medicine. But it was only in the 20th century that modern science began to reveal the extent of its therapeutic properties.

Hundreds of scientific studies have demonstrated that black seed possesses:

  • Immunomodulatory properties: it strengthens the immune system and helps fight infections.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties: thymoquinone, its main active compound, reduces inflammation.
  • Antioxidant properties: it protects cells against oxidative stress.
  • Antibacterial and antifungal properties: it combats many pathogens.
  • Antidiabetic properties: studies show it helps regulate blood sugar.
  • Anticancer properties: preliminary research suggests potential against certain cancers.

Thymoquinone, isolated from black seed, is the subject of intensive research worldwide for its potential therapeutic applications. This plant, mentioned by the Prophet ﷺ fourteen centuries ago, continues to amaze the scientific community.
